Clinical Reasoning Table for the second problem statement for Mr. F
If you read this clinical reasoning table carefully... you can tell that giving blood and plasma to Mr. F. is dicey. It takes some clear-headed planning. The blood and plasma are rich in protein and will (by osmolarity) suck additional fluid into Mr. F's vasculature. His heart is already struggling with the blood volume it's trying to pump around as it is...and the movement of fluid back to the circulation from the tissues would make his heart failure worse. Therefore, you can see on this CRT that the nurse understands this and is monitoring for it. In addition the nurse is giving Lasix to encourage diuresis.
